Hidden Treasures Are Waiting To Be Discovered

1_copy

With winter storm season in full swing, it’s prime time for agate hunting on the Oregon coast.  Storm systems means larger waves, that help wash away various levels of sand from the beach, exposing gravel beds with hidden goodies.  The  greatest    concentration of agates on the Oregon Coast can be found from the southern most parts of Florence to the Roads End  picnic area in Lincoln City.

For those who are unaware, agates are beautiful, translucent stones that range in color from clear to white, yellow, blue-gray, green jaspers and the orange/reddish carnelian. The easiest way to hunt for agates, is by looking for exceptionally exposed gravelbeds or rockbeds at low tides, preferably as the tide is going out.

After a long day of agate hunting, why not reward your efforts with a nice stay in one of our renovated units. Each room at The Coho has been thoughtfully redesigned to enhance your beach experience:  refreshing, vibrant, and alive with the coastal flavors native to the Oregon Coast.  To book your reservation, you can call us at 541-994-3684 or you can also visit us online at www.thecoholodge.com.
